I am sure that most of my readers love good food. Especially if it is home-made and not Brussel sprouts! Some of our best memories are based around food. Grandma’s cookies, Mom’s cake, and others probably come to mind.
Psalms 34:8 says, “O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man who trusts in him”. But how do we taste and see?
Many chefs when creating new recipes, have food tasters to tell them what they think. Although God does not need us to tell Him whether or not He is good, we need to know if we want Him to rule in us. In 2 Timothy 1:12, Paul says, “I know in whom I have believed”. So Paul must have tasted, and liked, God.
To taste God, we must put Him under scrutiny. We should test God, in order to know in whom we have believed! We should be able to “give an answer for our faith”, as 1 Peter 3:15 says.
God invites us not to just taste test Him, but to get a free lifetime membership at His restaurant. Every day we should banquet for free at his table. He offers to give the membership to us for free, but he cannot force it upon us, we must ask Him for it.
